  • After a beautiful visit of Pittsburgh skyline from Grand park view point, I searched for some Mediterranean restaurants nearby. This was located way down the mountain. First time visiting an Uzbekistan style restaurant. It has a street style setup with good cozy inside layout. Looked different than usual restaurants. Reception was amazing and explained me what each style of food and told me the best dish would be Lamb shank. I definitely wanted to try it but also wanted to order Pulao/Biryani which is quite popular in Uzbekistan and Afghan countries. Owner was courteous and nice to add the Pulao/Biryani as a complimentary instead of me ordering it separately. You got to believe me on the taste. I have been a great lover of lamb shank and have tasted it at several Mediterranean restaurants, but by far, this is THE BEST lamb shank I had. I loved the Pulao/Biryani rice as well. Enjoyed the tea at end Lamb Shank - 5/5 Pulao/Biryani rice - 5/5 Tushkany Tea - 4/5 Highly recommend it!!!

  • First time, 10/10 food and service. Excited to come back and share this incredible place with others. How lucky we are to have this place nearby! My partner and I came for a date night wanting to try Uzbek cuisine (we had 0 clue what to expect), we were not disappointed. SO GOOD.

  • Recommend Uzbek Plov, Beef Samsa, Chaykhana Do’ner. If the menu has pictures, it will be much easier for customers to order. The restaurant offers complimentary Sesame Non and Achichuk Salad, which also tastes good. The restaurant is clean, but there is no air conditioning, eating in summer is very hot.

  • I really enjoyed the food here — especially since Pittsburgh doesn’t have many restaurants serving Uzbek cuisine. The flavors are rich, spicy, and saucy, just the way I like them. It can get busy at times, but if you’re craving something bold and flavorful, I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try.

  • Honestly. The food and service made the atmosphere. Maybe they are simply decorated. But the service and food was enough for us to fall in love. Thank you to our server. We are grateful for the experience he gifted us. He shared with us his favorite and gave us culture insight as well as described the taste to us. We had quite a bit of food I can’t remember the names of. But we would eat them all again. Wish I took photos of all the other appetizers. But we ate them fast. The breads..so ONO (delicious). The dipping sauce. You can eat them without the breads. So much flavor. The napoleon. Wow!!!! Perfect!!! Also super affordable. For all the food we ate we expected the bill to be a lot more. Mahalo from Hawaii, we will be back again. Post bodybuilding show meal and no tummy aches. P.s. the chili…I love spicy but that was extreme heat. Also we made reservations so we didn’t have to wait.

  • I had an excellent experience at Chayhana Restaurant. The food was incredibly flavorful — especially the plov and kebabs, which were cooked perfectly and served hot. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing, and you can feel the traditional hospitality from the moment you walk in. The staff is attentive, polite, and always ready to help with recommendations. Prices are fair for the quality you get. I will definitely return and highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Central Asian cuisine.

  • Lovely family oriented restaurant in the heart of old Pittsburgh. Definitely a place where Uzbek families frequent because of the authenticity of the food. They serve traditional Uzbek dishes. We ordered Fried Lagman, Uzbek Plov and Green Tea. The Uzbek Plov was freshly prepared and screamed authenticity. The lamb was juicy and the flavour was on point and delicious. The combination of spices used was exceptional. The service was attentive and the staff answered all of questions patiently.
